I am a Diva
What transforms a somewhat normal person into a Diva? what about those rezzed that way? Is it fame? success? the need of attention? I have been in secondlife for a while and have seen many good friends fall into what I call the Diva pit, a big black gaping hole where all of the famous divas in SL lay together and occasional come out to play and show us mere mortals how beneath and under their league we are.
The transformation in most of the cases is unexpected and has cost me quite a few friendships. As many know I wear many hats in SL; I design clothes, I DJ and run a club, I lead a vampire / lycan horde I like to call my family, I write for this page and most of the time I am the unwanted centre of attention, but I have never let it get to my head. My father always used to say that perspective was always best with your feet on the ground.
What I am left wondering day after day is if Gay Divas in SL are really necessary. Do they serve a real purpose? Where is the logic and real goal on the diva movement? I am aware most people will highlight the fact that people in second life are free to live their lives and fantasies as they see fit and if they find self-fulfilment in this lifestyle, just avoid them and move on, but personally I’ll keep on doing what I like and love with my feet on the ground, living a somewhat simple life with my family and my son.
