I'LL BE THE JUDGE

In logic an assumption is a proposition that is taken for granted, as if it were true based upon presupposition without preponderance of the facts. An assumption that is considered to be self-evident or otherwise fundamental is called an axiom.
Simply put, assuming would be judging people or facts by what’s only apparent or by the limited information one has. Many collectives, minorities and sub-cultures in Second life and Real Life suffer from people’s bad habit of self proclaiming themselves as judges with the one-sided information they have, without having experienced or better informed themselves before jumping to conclusions.
I happen to be a part in second life of all three groups mentioned above. I am a gay single dad, who is a hybrid -this being a vampire/lycan- and a somewhat public figure, so sometimes it cannot be helped, you log in and assumptions there were… it happens, in time you learn to better deal with it and dismiss those not really reflecting you or what you are trying to achieve in life.
But what about us as the LGTB community, both a collective and a minority in non-western countries? I have focused my attention recently on news from that part of the world as I feel they are not only much in need of exposure but it will help us all on this side of the world to realize that, no matter how hard the equality fight may seem at times, we happen to be very lucky on what it may seem the little -which is a lot in my opinion- we have managed to achieve.
But going back to second life and assuming or judging collectives and subcultures without having the whole information on how it works, my father always said “assuming is like baking a birthday cake for a party you haven’t been invited to and eating it, all by yourself”
Information is power people, never forget it.
