Second life offers its users a wide array of choices when it comes to lifestyles, facing minimal -if any- judgement here and there. The whole concept of the platform is, do what you can’t in RL, visit places you otherwise wouldn’t be able to and dare to push those limits that years of social correctness have engraved in your brain.

In my own personal case, I have always been too focused and too busy to stop and “smell the roses”, or just stop for a while and look at the scenery; that is until my son recently invited me to move in with him to share some much needed -in his own words- simplicity.

I have learned within a few weeks to find pleasure in the little things, it being having a chat with him while riding the ranch’s trails on horseback or just sit with friends after fulfilling my second life commitments and just ramble about our lives.

My son has always been a naturist at heart, he simply says that he enjoys feeling free while doing what he likes while in second life. I have done my share of naturism in RL, since it’s a big thing in the area where I live -1 out of 5 beaches are nudist, so you do the math- but as a gay man in SL, nudity has always been very sexual. So when he decided yesterday to roam around the ranch doing some bareback riding, I couldn’t help but squirm and wonder what had gotten into him.

After fighting it -or trying to- for a whole day and trying to make him see my -narrow minded- point of view, I decided to humor him this morning and just go for it. It’s true, SL naturism can be entirely non-sexual for a gay man and this concept was very liberating; once you drop the concept that nudity and sex are closely related, naturism can be quite a fun experience.
