Tipjar unity

There are many things in SL that are somewhat sacred for a DJ, their tipjar being one of them, some build them themselves, others go for a fancy one that sends group invites freebies and the likes to the delight of the groupies and patrons that come to listen to you DJ.

Sometimes keeping your beloved tipjar around is not an option as some clubs resort to networked ones to keep lag to a minimum, this being the case of many clubs where a cut or not is discussed previously with the Djs -Most DJs I know and that pride themselves for being good won't go for a cut of their tips, that's unthinkable considering you have to pay for the stream and such-

Well, recently I was offered a partnership with "The Unity Club" and given my previous horrid experience with the last owner I decided to get my feet wet there with a set a week and see how things were functioning now, with the new management and all.

Things went somewhat smoothly for a couple of weeks until the manager Gai thor (he goes for Thordin now) started pushing their personalised tipjars down my throat, in order to -and I quote- "keep an uniform look", when I refused point blank on the last set ever I ever did there, he added he'd look for people who would be team players, when I simply stated that it was me and my tipjar, or no DJ.

There are many reasons why a DJ will refuse to part from their tipjar - make a list of those who won't work if there's not also payment on top of tips involved and then check it twice see how many names you get-, paycut or not and it's smart managing to humour the DJ to a point, specially if it's their traffic bringing business to your venue.

Don't look mum

So among the many things I invest myself on Second life, modelling seems to apparently be one that I get "sucked" into very randomly; last time I tried it was to write an article about what it was like to be a model, but this last one I simply, literally logged into.

A good friend of mine Dessa, has a photo-studio that she is trying to get get going, so she is currently testing poses and backgrounds among other things; photography in Secondlife however is a very competitive field, since much like in real life, anyone can just take a pic and edit it, but good quality photography such as the long photo-session me and my husband were subjected to is hard to come by.

The whole experience was highly sexual, but not quite at the same time. We were taken through all of the poses a sex park bench had (and I do mean all of them) and Dessa, although giggled and blushed at some parts, never stopped trying to get the most out of the pictures she was so focused on taking.

If you would like some artistic or even racy art done of you or both you and your significant other, do not hesitate to contact her, I highly recommend the experience and the results simply speak for themselves. What do you know... we do look great on pictures.

Menstuff

Most of you are probably wondering what have I been up to and why did I suddenly go silent on all of you. Well, I have been undergoing shop renovations and updates in order to join the MENstuff fashion group in-world, because I know for a fact they can be picky, as it is their intention to only offer people the best of the best there is in second life when it comes to fashion.

So it is my pride and joy to inform that as of today, my in-world shop SCS Designs is a proud member of the MENstuff community; it is my wish to keep offering everyone in-world affordable fashion not to be found anywhere else with accessible prices, so hopefully this will mean that our store mission will reach even more people.

If you would like to join the MENstuff community, there are 3 in-world group joiners. One at my main shop, one at boots beach and one at the TouGenKyo mall. Feel free to stop by and have a look around at what these people have to offer as you look for the group joiners.

Yes, I'm back to blogging, I was never gone I simply kept on postponing it.

Age play

In Second Life, the line between age play and realistic human proportions is a fine one but it is there nonetheless. So, when you run a business which is openly and publicly welcome to all walks of life, having to ask people to leave an event is complex, because people will use this against you and accuse you of having double standards.

When encountering a potential issue, most staff -specially hosts- are instructed on how to best handle the situation while trying to keep the fun and hype of the event at hand going, there is only one thing that will make us politely ask a person to leave the club, and that would be minors.

A few days back a new second life member -he was possibly 3 days old at best-, came to one of the sets, interacted with the DJ and patrons and basically had the regular fun most people engage at while at a club with strippers, but as I opened his profile -his username compelled me to do so as he was basically bragging about being underage-, what I found there made me approach him discreetly.

I asked how old was he in RL and he replied that his age was on his username, to which I added that it'd be best if he left. Discreet or not, a minor is a minor and as a parent, there are certainly a number of things I wouldn't wish my kids to be exposed to if I could help it. -stripping dancers and adult language being one of many things-; the funny thing though, is the fact that I could assure you that this particular person was not a minor, but was posing as one to fulfill most likely a perverse wish he cannot see to completion in RL.

There are many ways you can keep your business safe from minors and kid avatars, without having to openly bully those who don't measure up to your "standards", this last example being one of them.

I like dem toes

There something about the human anatomy we as avatars don't get to enjoy and as humans we take for granted, which would be our toes; some would argue and say that we are also missing our genitalia, but that would be one of the first things -apart from decent looking hair and a skin to match- that we as newborn avatars hurry to purchase, but toes in my opinion are very unsung and most of the time ignored as irrelevant.

Guess that with the wide array of footwear available in second life offered by very talented creators, the need for toes or even going barefoot is negated, but in my own particular case I missed having toes -for those uninformed avatars don't have toes, all you have are cutout feet which simulate them-, so after long and thoughtful consideration in trying to find a pair of feet that looked right on me, I settled on a couple from Kima designs.

I have spent the last 24 hours finding excuses to insert my toes in any situation or conversation -no pun intended- and I have even indulged in small pleasures such as getting my feet wet or close to a campfire while wiggling my toes. I am loving my toes, I sure missed having them, guess there are some small pleasures that are taken for granted in RL that when transferred to second life, do make a difference.
