Holy nipples

When you are out and about in the SL club scene -the gay clubs to be more specific-, you get exposed to a number of things, but to be more precise, I am referring to people's idea of beauty, "must have" trinkets that are trendy and all sort of kinks, in public display being worn by your beloved avatar persona.

Truth be told, before I go on dissecting and analyzing the reasons why people choose to follow a certain path or canon, that my avatar has evolved -and continues to do so- with things I add to it and which carry a special meaning or mark a situation that has signified a change -like aging in RL-, I have tattoos, prim hands, prim feet -I love having toes-, special eyes and my hair changes quite often.

The thing that compelled me to write this piece is the fact that I stumbled upon a person that looked as if he had fallen asleep and rolled over a pile of Xcite trinkets, this dude had it all but what specially called my attention were his super-sized nipples.

Remember people, things that seem like a good idea, might as well be in small doses, but doesn't necessarily mean that they will look well when shoved together on your avatar as to advertise your sexual kinks, there's a difference between SO much and TOO much, and sadly I don't mean just the word, always keep that in mind when trying to find the right look and balance for whatever it is you wish to convey as your fashion statement.

Muscle...

After a lot of pomp and flare, of being properly marketed in order to get everybody excited -or at least talking about it- Mesh is here and is here to stay. It has slowly and inadvertently made its way into all areas of our lives -mostly fashion- and I have found those who swore would never wear anything mesh for a number of very valid reasons, at least wearing a pair of shoes or hair or a tank once or twice.

What has caught my attention recently and which is the main topic of this article, would be mesh avatars or to be more precise, overly muscular avatars; I have to hand it over to the designers that put time and effort into it, but I have a number of questions in my head when it comes to the use the average SL citizen is giving them.

I haven't really verified this fact -so if I'm wrong do feel free to correct me-, but when a designer makes a muscle avatar, it also includes a well proportioned head to go along with the rest of it, something most buyers seem to opt out of, must be clearly the fact that the "head" and face of our avatar is the one thing that defines who we are, but this trend of not wearing the matching head with your newly acquired musculature has made a new community emerge, I personally call them the "pin heads" -or the shrunken heads if you need to get the picture & not feel this pet name is derogatory to the less intelligent-

What I find most amusing would be the fact that these people strut around, showing their purchase proudly while your head is clearly out of proportion and friends even compliment them on how great they look; it really reminds me of the emperor's new clothes, he was naked and not wearing anything, but people were too nice or too afraid to prove him wrong, same applies here.

My two cents and advice? customized matching avatar heads, it might end up being pricey, but if you are willing to make an effort and create an entire mesh avatar, a matching well proportioned head to match the customer's looks, would certainly put an end to this newly emerging community of cranial size challenge.

Then again that's just my opinion

Don't MESH with me

The incursion of mesh in our second lives seems to be both stoppable and day after day more welcomed by many former doubtful users who now parade around sims wearing their mesh with pride. As a content creator in second life it took me a while to consider including mesh items in my shop, but the way I saw it evolve, it's all just a matter of supply and demand; people want mesh, we procure mesh, simple as that.

As time goes by, we make an effort to include several sizes -at least on my particular case- to try and accommodate the wide range of users and shapes out there, but it's not always plausible, specially if -like in my case-  mesh doesn't quite do it for you, because it is unique and made from scratch. How do we include those users that simply can't wear mesh because it just won't look right? Should they be forced to re-tweak their shapes?, fine line is, as things are now, we simply can't and that is where our long awaited deform -sadly overlooked by Linden Labs- would come in handy.

Guess is a matter of waiting to see if deform will ever come, giving us creators the change to adjust and change rigged mesh so it fits all people, hence reaching an even wider variety of users, shapes and sizes; until that day comes, we will simply continue with our efforts to deliver quality mesh outfits that won't make you look fat, or funky shaped.
