Size matters

The following article may hurt some people's sensibilities, so if you are easily offended or impressed, I suggest you do not continue reading; with that said here are my two cents when it comes to the general idea of beauty and sizes when it comes to SL male avatars, specially on the gay scene.

Beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder and this cannot be more accurate when it comes to avatars, I've lost count on the number of times I have gone shopping with someone for a quick makeover only to find them switching back to the most horrible combination of fashion and shapes and hair anyone could think of.

My oldest son insists that some people are just happy with the way they look and for them, THAT is the definition of pretty, but I am still in awe when I go to public beaches and find some just over compensating; big penises that you can literally drag on the floor and are juts too big, avatar shapes that just are too buff and simply look wrong, or worse, the new species I like to call the "pinheads", Lou Ferrigno type of mesh avatar shapes with a tiny "average sized avatar head.

I guess people in SL should be cut some slack, given that it is in fact a user created environment and this plainly decides how reality around you is shaped, created and led -this including your overall look-, but some things are just too big or too obvious to ignore or at least to not mention them in a blog post. Personally I do not need to over compensate, I am happy with what mother nature gave me and in SL, my avatar is a true reflection, not only of my facial features but on how I am sized "everywhere".

3 foot long penises are not hot, desirable and will NOT make anyone in their right mind jump at the chance of having a go at it -trust me on this-, having a penis going through your head or stomach while having sex is unrealistic at best, do yourself a favor and ask for help, keep proportions accurate for your avatar size and shape and be mindful of others when you do this, specially if you are planning on cruising; there are a lot of places you can go to if your funding is limited or you just have no idea what the "right look" is for you, so this is when looking for help comes in handy.

Size DOES matter, specially if you are just TOO big.

STROKE MY... Ego

The Internet and social platforms such as second life, give one the opportunity to explore many things, but second life has that added option of building yourself an alter ego, a virtual persona with its own image, feelings, agenda and background story; it all depends on how invested you get on it.

We build our avatars to be the perfect image of that person we wish to be, we cannot be or we wish we will get to be or we used to be -this applies to SL twinks- and we tweak bits and pieces as we go along our second lives; something that also gets built up however is our ego, which I have come to learn for some people, needs to be stroked and pampered properly to get the desire effect, as if it were a penis.

Let's get a few things straight and get the message out there to the millions of second lifers, or social platform users with blogs, profiles, groups or whatever you want to call them. Keep it real, keep it simple, do things because you want to do them and have something to share with people, not to build up your sense of self importance or compensate for a somewhat socially challenged real life.

I joined second life and do most social networks for a simple reason, as of right now; I feel I have something to share, it gives me the chance to explore my talents and dabble on areas that would be impossible for me in real life or would take tremendous effort or a huge financial investment to get me somewhat started or to the point I am now in second life. If you need your ego stroked through appraisal or approval, you need therapy not the internet, so maybe getting a REAL social life would help you work on your issues.

I'll stick to having the one thing that needs stroking, stroked and I'll do that in the privacy of my bedroom with the hot guy I like.

PLEASE RESIZE!

No matter your ethnic background, Secondlife as well as many other virtual platforms, give us guys the chance to be as big as you wish and some go to the extent of, what I think is my humble opinion, overcompensating. But does it really make it more pleasurable for the receiving party if you are as big as the Apollo? I mean, there’s no way in pixel land that you will be made felt uncomfortable by size, but sometimes you are left wondering, what do I do with all that? Is it really necessary?
One of my best friends in RL and SL is Asian, and according to statistics, those with black ethnics are the biggest and Asians are left with the “tiny” stigma. Like I mentioned before, not really an issue in Secondlife, as your imagination is the limit and I know from personal experience (we used to strip dance together in our early days, so I’ve peeved)  he has never felt the need to overcompensate by being extremely hung, but the topic of ethnics and assumptions on sizes does come up often.
So what is a guy to do in the virtual world when faced with size limitations in RL? do you go and make it 12 inches or more just because you can? Personally I find quite a turn off trying to line up and adjust the poses to something not really anatomically correct, even in RL when faced with something a little too big, I have made an excuse so I don’t have to handle such a thing. And this size issue in SL is not male centred either, I have seen a few too many ladies abusing the benefits of size adjustment when it comes to attributes.
I am in no way being critic about individual choices on sizes and looks, but like my best friend said once “in RL you can’t help it, but in SL, you have no excuse”
